Shinryo’s India Vision
Shinryo Corporation has a long-term vision for Indian market, particularly in cleanroom projects. This includes not only traditional pharmaceutical sector but also more rapidly growing microelectronics industries such as semiconductor, solar energy, electronic component manufacturing, and lithium-ion battery mega plants.
In October 2024, Shinryo Corporation acquired a majority stake in GMP, gaining full control over the company's operations. Previously, in 2018, Shinryo acquired M/s Suvidha Engineers India, a leading Indian air conditioning contracting company with over 40 years of industry experience now.
Shinryo aims to leverage the strengths of both companies to execute turnkey projects including those for the microelectronics sector, which is emerging and rapidly growing.
GMP’s Vision
GMP’s management has Recognized that Indian pharmaceutical industry recently has stagnated growth at less than 10%. Additionally, the pharmaceutical cleanroom market has become highly competitive, with the emergence of numerous small local players.
Given the discontinuation of tax incentives in states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim, and the absence of new large-scale pharmaceutical projects in these regions, GMP has reassessed cleanroom manufacturing operations for the pharmaceutical industry. Currently, GMP operates two major plants in North India, both of which have suffered, facing with deteriorating market environment there.
To address these challenges, the management has conducted a comprehensive review of operations, and will introduce a new range of aluminium partitions designed specifically for the microelectronics industry. The company will invest in training its existing workforce and engineering staff in the manufacturing and installation of these new product lines.
GMP is committed to driving profitability through an innovative approach by expanding its product range to meet the evolving demands of modern industries. The Government of India has already announced a ₹2.0 lakh crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for key sectors, including semiconductors, EV battery plants, solar cell manufacturing, and electronics production.
In light of these developments, GMP’s management will realign its strategy in Indian market by:
- Optimizing manufacturing capabilities
- Evaluating plant locations and workforce training
- Reviewing and restructuring of current manpower
- Developing a modern range of high-tech products
- Forming strategic partnerships with advanced technology firms.
With these initiatives, GMP aims to position itself as a leader in cleanroom solutions for India's fast-growing microelectronics sector.
